Creating & Managing Groups
Any member can start a group. Whoever creates it becomes its first admin.
Creating a group
- From Your Groups, tap +.
- Choose Create Group.
- Give it a Group Name — something people will recognize in a list, like Wednesday Youth Parents rather than Group 2.
- Decide whether it should be Public.
- Tap Create.
A Public group can be viewed by anyone in your church. A group left un-public is visible only to its members. Either way, people still need to be added or use the group code to take part.
You can add a Group Image at any time from Group Settings — helpful once a member belongs to several groups.
The group code
Every group gets a short join code, such as 58DEHV.
Turn on Show Group Code in Group Settings to display it in the chat header. Members can then read it out in class or paste it into a text, and anyone who has it can choose Join Group and enter it.
Turn the setting off when you'd rather control membership yourself.
Admin tools
Group admins get an Admin Tools menu:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Manage Members | Add people from the church directory, or remove them |
| Manage Admins | Give or take away group administrator access |
| Manage Subgroups | Create and maintain subgroups (below) |
| Blocked Users | Review anyone blocked from the group; swipe to unblock |
Removing someone posts {name} was removed from the group in the conversation, so the change isn't silent.
Subgroups
A subgroup is a smaller conversation living inside a larger group — the teachers within a Bible class group, say.
When you Add New Subgroup, every member of the main group is added to it automatically. From there you manage its members separately.
Subgroups can be marked Public Subgroup the same way top-level groups can.
