Data Import
Most churches arrive with a membership list already — a spreadsheet, a directory program, or an export from another church platform. You don't have to retype it.
ChurchNET will do it for you, free
There's no self-service importer in the app. Instead, send us what you have and we'll load it.
Contact our support team at support@churchnet.app and tell us what you're working from. There's no charge for this.
What to send
Almost any format works — a spreadsheet, a CSV, or an export from your current system. Don't spend time reformatting it before you send it; we'd rather see the original.
The fields worth having, in rough order of importance:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| First and last name | The minimum needed to create a record |
| Email address | How members are matched to your church when they sign up |
| Mobile number | The other way members are matched, and how you text them |
| Family or household grouping | Keeps households together in the directory |
| Street address | Powers the Member Map and is used for mailings |
| Birth date | Drives the Birthdays module |
| Wedding anniversary | Drives Anniversaries |
This is the one thing worth your time before sending.
Members are connected to your congregation by matching their email address or mobile number — so a stale address means that person can't get in, and you'll be fixing it one member at a time later.
Before you send the file, check the records most likely to be out of date: people who've changed jobs, changed carriers, or married. See Inviting Members.
After the import
Once your records are loaded:
- Spot-check a few families in the Directory.
- Turn on the modules you'll use — see Module Management.
- Then invite the congregation.
